The arrow: Season 1

     During the show "The Arrow" Oliver Queen was stranded on a island after a ship wreck for 5 years and came back as someone completely different. During the show it shows that this once party boy with no care in the world has turned into someone with a mission and that is to cure the corruption in his home city. He changed but hides it behind the mask of his old self. During this show in the first season he used many tactics to trick characters in the show and even the camera to give the viewers the same effect.

    When Oliver got a body guard from his mother when he returned you can tell that he was not happy with the decision. When he asked to go somewhere he got in the car as the guard drove him but midway through the drive he jumps out of the car and Diggle, the body guard, couldn't find him when he stopped the car. The show uses this trick on many occasions to show just how fast he can disappear confusing anyone involved. This also shows that he gained some new skills on the island being able to disappear like that.

    The show also uses an interesting method of storytelling, it flashes back to the island occasionally in each episode to show what he truly went through on the island and during the wreck. Every time a flashback happens right before it was something that reminds him of that place and time period. The show uses it as a way to explain how he knows something that almost every other character doesn't at the moment. There is also a different use of colors in the flashbacks so you can definitely tell when they are happening. An example would be on the island there was a blue hue over everything. The Arrow uses these flashbacks and use of color to explain background and it is executed well.
