Swiss Army Man

This film was interesting to say the very least. It played on many themes of indirect comedy, the reason for this is because of the very grim start to the movie. The movie starts off with one of our main characters with what looks to be them stranded on an island about to end their life because they don't see an escape. As they were about to end their own life they saw a man on the beach which would be the first person he had seen in a long time. So he wanted to untie what he knotted to go over to them but they fell and the piece of cloth he used tore. This introduces our second character where they had seemed to be dead. He then wants to use the belt on this dead person we find out later is Manny. So our main character takes the belt and ties the same knot as before and hears something. It was Manny and he was farting it seemed, he then used Manny as a makeshift jet ski. This is just the beginning of how bazar events in this movie are.

The movie however did use some small details that gave great feeling to some of the scenes changing the whole scenario our two characters are in. Different uses of color were used throughout the film to give off the feeling that the characters had. Examples of this would come specifically from the dance party scene that they built. The whole time the colors were a warm hue giving off happy feelings through both characters due to how happy they looked in that moment. Another example of this would be when the bear attacked nearing the end of the movie. The colors at this instance were much cooler and a lot more blue showing a "no hope" kind of feeling here because of how upset the characters were at the moment, specifically Manny. The use of color in these two moment really showed the feelings of these moments in great ways and it was very easy to tell the feelings within the scenes.

Overall the film was interesting as I said before. The creators being able to use color in the ways that they did definitely added an easy relation to the viewers in the moments that they want to show more serious themes. Although the whole premise of the film was very strange it allowed for a close connection between our two characters. Even though at the end it became a question of was it all real or fake since there could be an argument for either side.
