Marie Antoinette
I myself have never seen the movie Marie Antoinette and thought it was generally interesting to see the many details that were added to the story as well as the sets of the movie. The film was extremely colorful and felt that it was a big part of it seeing the different high contrast clothes as well as the palace. Sofia Coppola makes Marie feel as if she is alone for most of the movie with very specific camera angles where no one is around her adding to her new experience in the story. It was like there was a balance for Marie between having a good time and everyone around her talking bad about her. The story overall highlighted how lonely she must have felt with many different aspects.
I found it the most interesting when Marie first was handed off, it seemed very strange to me that she couldn't bring her dog or even wear the same clothes that she had before going to France. This is when it was shown that Marie was more alone then she ever had been. This starts when you see the wide angle shot and see the differences between their customs that she is not familiar with. The feeling of being alone is held throughout the movie that even at the end when the portraits were being done the father or king wasn't even in them as well as in the funeral scene he seemed distant from her without truly caring.
The decisions used to make the movie were pretty spot on in my opinion. The color change throughout the movie based on the mood of the scene really made the movie stand out since it is something easier to detect. An example would be during the funeral when the movie goes from a more warm hue to the dark cold look with everyone in black giving a feeling of mourning or sadness. Overall, the film had many aspects that provided the feeling they needed the viewer to have and really put forth the message that Marie was truthfully alone ever since she left her home even with her extravagant parties.
